A Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to the Cockayne Historic Preservation Committee of the Marshall County Historical Society by Governor Bob Wise on the 27th Day of October, 2004.
The Certificate Reads that the committee has been awarded this Certificate of Appreciation "recognizing significant contributions toward restoring the Cockayne House in Marshall County. The preservation and restoration of this historical landmark is of vital importance to both Marshall County and the State of West Virginia. The Cockayne Historic Preservation Project provides an excellent opportunity for education about the early pioneers of The Mountain State. The hard work and dedication of this committee is inspirational and sets a tremendous example for us all."
